"APART FROM ALL THE REST"
KEEPING IT REAL
With vibrant colours and detailed drawings,
Song of Songs is nice to look at, but what really
sets this indie comic apart from all the rest
is the T-Dot setting and hip-hop-influenced cast of
characters. "I wouldn't say it's a hip-hop comic," says
[Song of Songs the Comic Book creator], but it takes place in reality."
A slightly skewed reality. With issue five soon to drop,
average guy Isaiah and his friends have already encountered
the lumbering grey man-monster Jello Bello and an army of
Asian "clones." And things are just starting to unfold:
"I got arcs and arcs and arcs planned out," the self-taught
artist admits. "Some of it will unfold tomorrow, some of it
won't unfold until ten years from now." Let's at least hope
Isaiah rescues his kidnapped girlfriend from Jello Bello
sometime soon.

Special thanks to Thomas Quinlan for buying a couple of issues of Song of Songs the Comic Book from a local Toronto store, and liking it enough to contact Song of Songs the Comic Book about writing an article on the adventure.
